In this article, you will know the best packaging materials, carrier options, and methods to ship your CPU.

How to Package a  CPU

No matter how safe your shipping company or method is, you still have to protect the processor from unforeseen circumstances. And you have to ensure that the internal and external parts of the CPU will be unscratched on delivery.

Before the external package, you should ensure the internal package of the CPU is enough protection in case anything happens to the external package.  Below is how to pack your CPU for shipping before wrapping it up.

  1. How to Package an AMD CPU

If you are shipping an AMD CPU (with pins at the bottom area), package it with foam covering the pin area. You are using foam so that the pins can poke through it and it will not bend during shipping.

So, if you do not have foam, find similar material the pins can poke through. Before sending the CPU, ensure the pins poke through the materials.

  1. How to Package an LGA Socket CPU

The LGA CPU has pads on the bottoms instead of pins, so they do not require special protection, especially the external parts. You can simply pack the CPU  in a bubble wrap or the CPU case holder.

As long as the packaging does not subject it to bending, chipping, or cracking, you are good to go.

  1. Mobile  CPUs

Due to the mobile CPU’s size, the packaging is easy but can easily get lost during shipping. You can package the mobile CPU in the plastic case holder. Then you can wrap it up or put it in an enormous container.

Best CPU Packaging Materials

After packing any CPUs in the cushioning materials, place them in a sturdy box that fits their size and wrap it up with a packing tape, and you are ready to ship it. Here are the best materials to use to package the CPU.

Antistatic Plastic Bags

An antistatic plastic bag for packaging your CPU is the best and most recommended. Because it protects the processor in case of electric discharge.

  • Cut open the antistatic bag.
  • Wrap the CPU in it
  • Use a bubble wrap for final protection
  • Place it in an appropriate box

Cardboard

Cardboard is the most common and easiest material used for packaging items. The cardboard is sturdy enough to protect the CPU against hits and water.

  • Cut up the cardboard in your CPU’s shape.
  • Use a tape around it.
  • Place it in the shipping box.

Styrofoam

Styrofoam is also a suitable packaging material because of its durability and shock absorption properties.

  • Cut the styrofoam to the CPU’s shape
  • Seal it with tapes.
  • Place it in the shipping box with lots of bubble wraps around it.

Aluminum foil

The aluminum foil is also a suitable packaging  material because it protects the CPU from water and water vapor, UV ray, and corrosion (because of its high corrosion resistance)

  • Cover your CPU with the aluminum foil
  • Place it in the shipping box with lots of bubble wraps around it.

How to Ship a CPU without the original box

If you no longer have the CPU’s original box, you can get any sturdy box that fits the CPU’s size. Preferably get one the same size as the original box so that it is neither too small nor big for shipping.

A more oversized packaging will leave space around the box, but you can easily fill it with bubble wraps.

  • Wrap the CPU with any appropriate packaging material
  • Fill the remaining space with bubble wraps
  • Securely seal the box with tape.
  • Include delivery details and ship.

How to Sell CPU without Box

If the CPU is in perfect condition, selling it without its box should not be a problem. Just ensure you package it and wrap it up well, so it does not get damaged along the way.

One of the best ways to package a used CPU is by wrapping it up in an antistatic bag, layer it with bubble wraps, then putting it into a box. You can also use the other packaging material, but this is the best.

Note: As long as the buyer knows it is a used CPU and in good condition, they should not mind it coming without its box.

Can I Ship a CPU in an envelope?

Yes, you can ship the CPU in an envelope if you have packaged it securely with cardboard pieces. So, you just have to place the wrapped CPU in the envelope and secure it with bubble wraps.  However, there are better and safer methods for shipping a CPU.

Can You Ship a PC overseas?

Yes, CPU shipping overseas is as easy as shipping other items. Just ensure you package the CPU well. So, whether it is a used or new  CPU, you can ship it anywhere as long as you send it via a trusted delivery company.

How much is it to ship a CPU?

The shipping fee for a CPU will vary depending on the delivery service you use. But the lowest you can find is for five bucks via the USPS flat rate Priority Mail box. Some go as high as $14. Also, urgent delivery might cost more.

Can I Wrap a CPU in a Bubble Wrap?

If your CPU is a socket LGA CPU (with no pins), you can wrap it in the bubble wrap for shipping. But if otherwise, you will need a cushion material before wrapping it in a bubble wrap.

Can You Put CPU in an Antistatic Bag?

The antistatic bag is one of the best materials for shipping a CPU. It is recommended because of its ability to repel electrical discharge. So, to ship a computer or the CPU, an antistatic bag is a good cushion material.

Final Words

If you are sending a CPU anywhere, no matter how short the distance is, ensure that it is well packaged. And if your CPU is not in use, learn how to store a CPU pending the time you will have a use for it.  But whatever you do with the CPU, protect it from any damage.
